Vacation in Schenna near Merano

Active, cultural, and gourmet vacation in South Tyrol

Villa Alvarium is located in Schenna, a hiking paradise above Merano. The nearby village center is easily accessible on foot (800 - 1000 m). There you will find shopping opportunities, restaurants, ice cream parlors, and bars, as well as a bike rental (400 m). The modern and attractive outdoor pool with a restaurant, pizzeria, and tennis courts is also within a short walking distance.

Merano, the world-famous spa town, is only about 5 km away. It can be easily reached by bus or car. There you will find a wide range of offerings: from the modern thermal baths, the Kurhaus with festivals for music and wine, to the various markets, as well as the characteristic arcades, the magnificent promenades, and the famous horse racing track. Italy's most beautiful botanical garden, Trauttmansdorff, is also just a few kilometers from Villa Alvarium.

Vacation in every season

A variety of hiking trails, both for the experienced and for walkers, surrounds Schenna with the Hirzer area, the „Tschöggelberg“ and the Texel Group Nature Park. The numerous nearby cable cars, such as to the Hirzer, to the Taser, to Meran 2000 or to the Vigiljoch, make the ascent easier. Meran 2000 is also a paradise for hiking and skiing in winter. It is the local recreation area for the residents of Meran. Other attractive ski areas are in the immediate vicinity, such as the Schwemmalm in Ulten, the glacier in Schnalstal, and the Obereggen ski area in Eggental, Sulden, Watles, and Schöneben in Vinschgau.

In spring and autumn, the numerous cycling paths, which lead across the entire country, are particularly popular. The routes from Meran to Bozen and from Mals to Meran are especially family-friendly. For mountain bikers, more challenging routes can naturally be found in the surrounding mountains.

Golfers also get their money's worth in the Burggrafenamt. There are beautiful golf courses in Lana, Eppan, Sarnonico, and in the Passeiertal.
